Come and Worship

A gathering of people where all are welcome to hear God's word, share the meal of communion, and be sent out in service - these are the heart of worship at King of Glory, a place where all are invited and welcome to grow in faith. We celebrate communion every time we gather in worship, trusting that Jesus is truly present with us in the sharing of the bread. Everyone, including children, are welcome to receive communion. We celebrate community as we joyfully share the peace of Christ with one another during the service. We come together and are then sent out remembering that we are children of God, empowered by the Spirit.

As part of a liturgical church we follow a basic pattern or flow to our worship:

  • Gathering
  • Hearing the Word
  • Sharing the meal of communion
  • Sent out to serve

Within this basic pattern there is also a great deal of variety. We blend contemporary and traditional music to create worship experiences that appeal to a wide range of tastes. On the first Sunday of the month, we have an In One Place worship experience designed to intentionally engage children and their families. Once a month we also have worship led by a band. We use Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, gospel, Celtic and other contemporary liturgies. Music is an integral part of each service, with voices and a variety of musical instruments enhancing the worship experience. We also add variety to our worship experience through puppet shows, skits, and the use of power point and pictures on a large screen in the front of the worship space.

Communion: The sacraments, which include communion and baptism, are understood as "means of grace" in the Lutheran church, ways in which God's grace and love for us are communicated and given to us. We believe that in the bread and wine of communion, Christ is truly present. The communion table is always open to all, including children and visitors. As we gather around the table, individuals can choose to have the wine from either the common or individual cup. We also offer grape juice to those who prefer. Gluten free wafers are also available. Just let the pastor know that you need a gluten free wafer.

Children in Worship: Children are always welcome to fully participate in worship, including receiving communion. If your child has not yet begun receiving communion and you would like him or her to do so, please talk to the pastor for instruction about first communion. There are children's activity bags and children's bulletins available in the back of the worship center. There is also a nursery available for children ages birth to six years old.
