Family Ministry
At baptisms, we as the people of God promise to "support (name of child) and pray for them in their new life in Christ." As a community of faith we want to encourage, challenge, and support growth in faith - a gift given through the Spirit which enables us to see the world through Christ's eyes - in the lives of children and youth. We want to pass on the faith so that it is a vibrant part of daily life, lived out in the world. We do this in three primary ways:
- Peer group learning/activities which include Sunday school, youth group activities, and confirmation classes.
- Family and daily life which includes periodic helps and suggestions for family devotions, especially during Advent and Lent, and encouraging entire families to participate in
congregational service projects.
- Congregational life involvement which include encouraging family participation in the "In One Place" worship services, blessing of important stepping stones in a child's life, such as the "Blessing of the Backpacks", service projects - including the community garden, and fellowship activities.
Relationships are at the heart and center of faith - a relationship with God, a relationship with a caring community, and a relationship with the world. We are intentional in our life together to include and nurture relationships with people of all ages, committed to a "seamless" ministry that incorporates people of all ages and generations.
