Confirmation

In the Lutheran church, confirmation is a two and half year program intended to instruct youth ( 6th- 9th grades) about what it means to be part of a community of faith. Students and their parents meet for instructional classes on the Bible, worship and the sacraments, Ten Commandments, Apostles' Creed and the Lord's Prayer. The program also includes taking sermon notes, participating in the life of the congregation by serving as an acolyte, usher, etc, and participating in service projects, confirmation camp, and youth gatherings.

Following this period of intentional instruction and learning, young people are invited to "Affirm their Baptisms" on Reformation Sunday (the last Sunday in October) and become "confirmed" members of the congregation.
